I’ve tried a lot of protein bars in the name of busy Colorado days—hikes, travel, and “I need something that isn’t candy in a wrapper.” Most either taste chalky, wreck my stomach, or hide a mile-long ingredient list. Lineage Provisions is different: animal-based, real-food snacks and supplements co-founded by Dr. Paul Saladino, MD, and Dr. Anthony Gustin, DC.

Hero focus for this review: The Lineage Protein Bars (Chocolate, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Mixed Berry, Coconut Macadamia, and more). They offer about 20g grass-fed protein, no seed oils, and are sweetened with raw honey and coconut nectar.

What Lineage Provisions is

Lineage makes real-food nutrition made easy: protein bars, grass-fed meat sticks and air-dried steak, dairy protein powders, nose-to-tail collagen, creatine, raw honey, beef tallow, and purity-tested coffee.

For the bars specifically, Lineage highlights grass-fed whey concentrate plus collagen, raw honey and organic coconut nectar, beef tallow instead of seed oils, real cocoa or freeze-dried berries, no sugar alcohols or gums, roughly 20g protein in about 175–195 calories, and third-party purity testing.

What I like

  1. Ingredient integrity over label tricks. Choosing whey concentrate and real honey and tallow prioritizes food quality.

  2. 2. Gut-friendly formula. No sugar alcohols or industrial binders is a big deal if protein bars usually leave you feeling heavy.

  3. 3. Taste that actually feels indulgent. Reviews describe brownie, cookie, and real-cocoa vibes—not chalk.

  4. 4. Active-life practicality. Soft when warm, so store cool and fridge briefly if needed.

They do cost more than grocery-aisle bars. You’re paying for grass-fed protein, cleaner sourcing, and testing—not fillers.

How I use them / what to expect

Keep a box in the pantry, cool and dry (ideally under about 75°F). Grab one after a workout, between meetings, or on trail days and travel when real food is hard to find.

Texture is denser and food-like—not a fluffy candy bar. If a bar arrives soft or slightly reshaped in heat, fridge time firms it back up.

Final thoughts

Built Bar still has a permanent spot in my rotation for dessert-level macros, but Lineage fills a different lane: cleaner, animal-based, real-food protein when I care most about ingredients and digestion. If that sounds like your kind of snack, these bars belong in your bag.

Which flavor are you trying first—Chocolate or Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip? Tell me in the comments!

Flavors include Chocolate, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Mixed Berry, and Coconut Macadamia.

Who it’s for

These bars are a great match if you want a protein snack that digests more like food, prefer animal-based ingredients, need portable fuel, or are tired of seed oils and bloating from typical bars.

Caveat: They contain dairy (grass-fed whey). If you’re dairy-free or highly sensitive, this isn’t your bar. Raw honey means they’re not for kids under 1.
